Project Description
The objective of the project was to support HON Industries’ senior managers in making strategic decisions regarding the sizing and location of new manufacturing facilities, assignment of service areas, management of transportation, and evaluation of alternative distribution strategies. HON Industries is the second-largest office furniture manufacturer in North America, and the nation's leading manufacturer and of gas- and wood-burning fireplaces.

Role of Firm
As Prime Consultant, cmQue, inc. developed optimization models of the manufacturing and distribution network of different divisions within HON, used the models to analyze various operating scenarios, and developed recommendations that were the basis for future actions. cmQue provided its subject-matter expertise in freight transportation analysis, supply chain network modeling, and strategic planning. In addition, cmQue also trained HON management staff in the use of analytical methods and network modeling software.
